avocados

I spent the day creating a visual library. I tore up all of my old magazines and organized them in an accordion folder. It was undoubtedly the best time i've spent lately. Getting this concept drawing has been much more rewarding with all of these references. I painted a couple avocado paintings today also which made me realize how much i love my studio. Its a magical thing transforming from a portrait studio into anything i could ever want it to be. Its my favorite place in the universe.

spontaneous travels

Saturday morning, over breakfast at The Village, Aaron and I decided we were going insane. Getting out of Richmond was a necessity. So with all the excess money we had ($50 to be exact)
we left. Front Royal on Saturday metro into DC Sunday and then head back to Richmond. It was a blast, but i am very happy to be home.

matchbox pinhole

Today Aaron and I ran around Oregon Hill with this little baby, taking a whole roll of pinhole photos. I spent an hour or so making it and I have a few pictures to still take, but hopefully it will work. I'm stoked either way that it looks so gnarly.

To see the fabulous how-to enjoy http://www.matchboxpinhole.com/ !

A day at Hippoland

I got taken to Hippoland yesterday by Aaron, his brother, and two of their friends. The plan was they would skate and i would take pictures, like normal. But then we arrived. Once a shopping center and now some sort of flattened nuclear waste land; Hippoland blew my mind. Despite the sweltering heat I had a blast. I'm taking the advice of my photography teacher and shooting black and white with no photoshopping. This is new for me, so cut me some slack.
